PopStroke, a golf-and-casual dining entertainment venue, is nearing completion in the East District of University Town Center. Amenities include a two-story prototype with a rooftop bar, restaurant and private event space at 195 University Town Center Drive. The East District is located just east of the Mall at UTC. Co-owned by golfing great Tiger Woods and his TGR Ventures, there are also two 18-hole putting courses providing family-friendly options for different skill levels. The putting courses use synthetic turfs, incorporating fairways, bunkers and rough as seen on traditional golf courses.
PopStroke will also offer a variety of craft beer, wine, signature cocktails, ice cream, outdoor games and a playground. The company forecasts a March completion date.
Why the name PopStroke?
“Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course having putting contests,” Tiger Wood said in a 2019 press release. “I’m looking forward to others enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke. This is a new way for individuals to experience the game of golf. It’s about bringing people together.” The PopStroke at University Town Center is expected to bring more than 70 jobs to the Bradenton-Sarasota area. A hiring fair is scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 3-5 and Feb. 7-12 at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, 305 N. Cattlemen Road, Sarasota. Founded in 2018 in Jupiter, PopStroke has facilities in Fort Myers and Port St. Lucie. Other locations are planned in Orlando, Tampa, Delray Beach, Houston, Texas, Salt River/Scottsdale, Ariz., and Glendale, Ariz. “I am very excited about our expansion plans,” Woods said in a 2021 press release.
