The ground breaking ceremony for the new Herrig Center for the Arts at ArtCenter Manatee took place on September 14, 2023. This marks a significant milestone for the center and the community, with construction set to begin soon and completion scheduled for late 2024. The new center, designed by Wannemacher Jensen and built by NDC Construction, will provide expanded gallery, classroom, office, and storage space. The existing facility will be replaced with a community park and sculpture garden upon completion. The project received an award for its design from the Tampa AIA.
The public portion of the Center’s Capital Campaign was announced, including a $500,000 Challenge Grant from the Bishop Parker Foundation. The goal is to raise an additional $5.5 Million.
ArtCenter Manatee offers a range of art classes and features a large gallery, classrooms, a gift shop, and more. It will continue to operate during construction.
