Sarasota is home to beautiful views, and beautiful people, so it’s no surprise that Instagram and Facebook are always filled with new shots of the area. But who are the people behind the camera, putting in the work to show off our city? Meet four different photographers whose work you’ve probably seen on your Instagram feed.

Casey DiGiovanni got into aerial photography out of a crazy set of circumstances. After he invested thousands of dollars in good camera equipment, someone stole it from his car. Instead of buying all that gear again, he bought a drone to be able to keep taking photos. In the end, it seems to have worked out for the better.

“With the drone, being able to see things from different perspectives is unique and amazing. It’s like you’re flying for a minute,” says DiGiovanni. His aerial shots often focus on the beach, a favorite of his. “I was born and raised in Sarasota and I [the photography] to show the best of the area.” DiGiovanni currently has over 5,400 followers on Instagram, a number that he is working to increase. He says he is considering doing short videos instead of just pictures.

@everencephotography

Spouses Jessica and Jordan Chaplinsky run Everence Photography. Though the two take stunning pictures of just about everything, they are best known for their work at weddings. Jessica Chaplinksy knew that weddings were going to be a speciality for the business the first time she brought her husband to one.

“His images blew me away,” she says. “After his first wedding, I said to him, ‘We’re doing every single wedding together.’” She says that the two are always looking for “beautiful details” and try hard to capture memories honestly, making sure the photos look the same as they do in real life.

Everence boasts more than 8,700 Instagram followers, for which Jessica Chaplinsky is grateful, but knows it’s not everything. “I’m thinking more about the content, not the followers,” she says. “I try to post work that is beautiful and showcases Sarasota.”

@allsarasota

Dan MacKinnon started photographing Sarasota because of his passion for the area. When he moved here, he “fell in absolute love” with the “gem of a city,” he says.

As a realtor, taking photos was a creative outlet that allowed him to share the place he loved with others. MacKinnon has many Instagram and Facebook accounts showcasing Sarasota, Nokomis and other surrounding areas, but his most famous account is @allsarasota, which has more than 9,000 followers on Instagram.

“ALL stands for A Local Life,” saysMacKinnon.“There’s all these magical little places hidden throughout Sarasota County that aren’t even explored. I always try to take a different perspective ... take [the picture] from an unexpected angle or go off the beaten path.” He says he has really enjoyed getting to know both the Sarasota scenery and community, and that hopes to make those who view his photos smile while introducing them to new places to explore.

@lisaclarkphotography

Lisa Clark fell in love with photographing children after photographing her own. After friends and family started to request her help with family photoshoots, Clark knew she wanted to pursue photography, specifically working with newborns.

“The joy of just getting those first couple of weeks so [the clients] have it forever,” says Clark. “I just think the time passes so quickly. ... I want to capture that fleeting moment in their growth.” Clarks says she loves working newborns, and that the biggest compliment she can get is a comparison to Anne Getty. Clark’s studio is filled with outfits, accessories, backdrops and props—everything needed to get that perfect shot.

“It’s an art. That’s what’s so cool about this job,” says Clark. “I can constantly be evolving and changing and trying new things.” Clark currently has more than 13,000 followers on Instagram. To see her work, find @lisaclarkphotography on Instagram or visit her Facebook page.
